Benedict Tan

Group Chief Digital Strategy Officer, Singapore Health Services, Singapore

Mr Benedict Tan is the Group Chief Digital Strategy Office (GCDSO) for Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) cluster.

SingHealth is Singapore’s largest healthcare cluster offering a complete range of multi-disciplinary and integrated medical care through a network of four hospitals, five National Specialty Centers and eight Polyclinics.  As an Academic Medical Center, SingHealth pursues innovations to transform patient care delivery.  SingHealth galvanizes the best clinical and research capabilities to seek and discover new and better treatment and care for our patients.

As GCDSO for SingHealth, Mr Tan main role is to enable and guide SingHealth in leveraging digital capabilities to improve service and care delivery.   He is responsible to manage the overall digital strategy and the patient’s digital experience.   Under his Division of Digital Strategy, he has the Office of Academic Informatics (OAI), Office of Insights and Analytics (OIA), Office of Cyber and Information Security (OCIS) and Office of Data Governance and IT Compliance (ODGIC).   He is responsible for IT delivery and support, cybersecurity, analytics and data governance.

Mr. Tan has 28 years’ experience in the specialised healthcare-IT industry spanning both private and public institutions including Ministry of Health, National Computer Board, SAP and SingHealth, and many different roles and responsibilities such as project manager, business development, product manager and implementation consultant.  He has implemented many large-scale IT and process reengineering projects such as the Civil Service Medical Claims Reengineering,  Singapore General Hospital’s Bed Management and SingHealth Electronic Medical Records (EMR) projects.

Mr Tan has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology from National University of Singapore, a Masters in Business Administration and a Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management and Leadership from Singapore Management University, and a Certification in IT Project Management (CITPM).  He was a member in the National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) committee and IT Management Association (ITMA) executive committee.  In 2014, he was recognized as one of the most outstanding CIOs in the ASEAN region by the International Data Group (IDG).
